What is a Thigh Lift?
Weight loss is a great triumph for any individual. But once you reach your weight loss goals, it could require one extra step to finish your body transformation. Based on the amount of time you had extra weight and how much of that weight you lost, it's possible to have loose, wrinkly skin that hangs off of your body. The thighs are a particular area of concern for many people. Fresno, CA plastic surgeon Dr. John Burnett offers thigh lift surgery (also known as thighplasty) at John F. Burnett, MD, which trims extra skin on the inner and outer thighs to create a tighter, more contoured look. Thighplasty surgery has risen in popularity because it can give natural results for patients who don't want sagging skin on the thighs.

Thigh Lift Surgical Technique
For a thigh lift, general anesthesia is usually administered. An incision is made close to the upper area of the leg in the natural fold where the thigh and torso meet. The incision often extends down to the midsection of the thigh area. This allows enough space to perform liposuction to eliminate isolated pockets of fat, as well as to excise the loose skin at the upper thigh. The skin will be stretched upward so it is taut and safely secured with sutures. In specific patients, an additional incision may be necessary underneath the butt or in the outer thigh area, depending on the quantity of tissue being addressed. Thigh lift surgery takes around 2 – 3 hours to perform. There may be bruising, swelling, and discomfort during the first days of recovery. The full healing time typically takes around 6 – 8 weeks.
